Sonia
Aranza
The U.S. Department
of Labor described Ms. Aranza’s work as “outstanding.”
(U.S. Department of Labor 9/18/96). She is a dynamic speaker,
master trainer and consultant specializing in Diversity, Personal
Leadership and Communications. Ms. Aranza is experienced in the
design and implementation of effective Diversity programs as well
as consultation on strategies to link Diversity goals to corporate
business goals. Ms. Aranza is a sought-after member of diversity
training teams across the country. She has over a decade of professional
experience in providing high quality presentations to diverse
audiences.
Ms. Aranza’s
clients include the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services,
U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Army, U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency, Social Security Administration, Food & Drug Administration,
Metro Washington Police, Texaco Corporation, Georgia Power Corporation,
Southern Nuclear, State Farm Insurance Companies and numerous
professional associations and universities. In addition, Ms. Aranza
serves on the faculty of the Diversity Management Institute of
Montgomery College.
Ms. Aranza earned two
Masters degrees. She earned an M.A. in Inter-Cultural Communication
and Political Communication from the University of Hawaii where
she was an International Exchange Student to the former Soviet
Union. She earned a second M.A. in Public Communication from the
American University in Washington, D.C. Her undergraduate studies
include a B.A. in Communication from the University of Hawaii.
She also earned a Professional Diploma in Business Administration
from Georgetown University and continues to earn certifications
in cutting-edge programs from across the country. Prior to establishing
a full-time consulting practice, Ms.Aranza provided twelve years
of service in city, state and federal government focusing on legislation.
She provided six years of service as a professional staff member
in the U.S. Congress.
Ms. Aranza’s
passion for her work is founded in the spirit of making a difference.
She has received numerous awards for her work and community service
and has been featured in various publications. She is listed in
a volume of “Outstanding Women in America” and was
recently honored as “Outstanding Woman of the Year”
by the National Association of Professional Asian American Women
(NAPAW) at its 2002 national conference in Washington, DC.
She is a former board
member of the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership,
former board member of the Congressional Staff Association and
current board member of the Women’s Community Action League.
Ms. Aranza provides pro bono services to organizations that serve
the underprivileged and is a volunteer for SOME (So Others Might
Eat), a group that provides hot meals to the homeless.
Ms. Aranza was born
in the Philippines, raised in Hawaii and traveled extensively
throughout the world including twelve European countries, Russia,
China and India. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband,
attorney Danny Aranza, and their son Aaron.
